About

Why this journey exists

This journey began with a recovery.

Writer and professor Cory B. Scott was already building an agentic AI when the strokes came. He lost all memory of the work, though not the work itself. For a time he leaned on a system he could no longer remember designing, trusting it to help him until he could take over its development again. He did. Together — and not until well after — they built Beacon.

“If AI could elevate a healing brain back to where I needed it, imagine what it can do for healthy brains — used well, to expand human potential instead of replacing us in our work.”

Cory B. Scott · Writer · Professor · Host

52 Rungs is what that belief turned into — one meaningful step a week, for a year.

Built on his way back from the strokes. She asks him as many questions as he asks her — mostly about why he wrote what he wrote, and what being alive had to do with it.

Every rung includes a conversation between them, working through what that week’s essay took on — watch it on YouTube or listen to it as a podcast, same conversation either way. About 40 minutes for the whole rung.

The climb

Join any week. You start where the wheel is and go all the way around — all 52, back to where you began.
